Call for Participation

Submission deadline: March 30, 2015
The workshop Digital Assessment and Promotion of Children’s Curiosity will be a half-day workshop session held on June 21st as part of the 2015 ACM SIGCHI: IDC conference.
 
The goal of the workshop is to explore the design, development and evaluation of new digital technologies that can assess children’s curiosity at different ages and promote their curiosity and exploration in different ways.
 
Position papers should address these issues, such as:
  • Empirical research on curiosity assessment and promotion using digital technologies
  • Design, development and evaluation of novel technologies
  • Novel models and algorithms incorporated into engaging activities
  • Novel designs for apps
  • Social media platforms for assessment and promotion of exploration
  • Different methodological approaches for evaluation of curiosity measures
  • Corollary effects of interaction between curiosity and other learning gains
  • Evaluation and assessment of curiosity’s relation to other cognitive and social abilities
 
The workshop will provide all participants an opportunity to network and present their work. In addition, we will conduct activities to discuss relevant issues and plan future collaborations.
 
Your position paper should be in ACM SIGCHI Publications Format, should be 2-4 pages, and should be emailed as a PDF file to idc15.curiosity@gmail.com by April 6, 2015 (extended).
At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and the workshop by the early registration deadline (to be announced).
